Capriana has been quite busy since our last post! On January 29th, she was burned on her hands from an open oven door. She is now fine, but we spent a lot of time at Children's Hospital in the burn unit getting treated. Her right hand spent 1 week in a cast to heal and the left was casted for 3 weeks. We are happy to report that she did such a great job with her healing process that it is quite likely that she will not even scar!
Capriana had a fun first yesterday at the grocery store - her first ride on the King Sooper's pony. I am happy to report that inflation seems to have escaped the pony as the fee for a pony ride is still 1 cent (same cost as in my childhood). It was very cute to watch Capriana ride the pony. We were leaving the store and she saw the pony and would go no further until she was able to ride the pony. She even held on to the saddle horn (mommy held on to her to make sure that she stayed on).
Our little angel's hair is growning quite a bit now, too. She can officially wear pig tails and still have some hair hanging out. Promise to post photos soon. Also, as time goes on, we're noticing that Capriana did not escape the curly hair genes. It seems to be getting more curly by the day. Hopefully she embraces these curls. :)
Last week we were able to take our first "car ride" in the neighborhood. Capriana rode in her little blue/pink car up and down the sidewalk of our circle with Daddy pushing her up and down the driveways. It was so nice to finally have nice enough weather to be able to enjoy the outdoors after work!
For the past several weeks, it has become more evident that Capriana understands much more than she says. We can ask her where a specific toy is and she will go get it and bring it back. Also, you can ask her to hug/kiss/etc a toy and she will do it.
Body awareness is another milestone Capriana seems to be starting to master. She can easily point out her ears, mouth, nose, eyes, and - most recently - her tummy button. Although if she's wearing a onsie and not a shirt, she becomes quite confused at why she can't "show" you her belly button. Too cute. :)
Some of Capriana's current loves include using her bibs or any cloth material to dust/clean appliances or surfaces, playing tea party, "talking" on the phone, bossing the dogs around, reading, dancing to music from her CD player, and playing music on any instrument she can find.
Better scoot!
